Hot weather kept the Desert Thunder Seniors loose and ready this
past weekend as they attended the 2010 Long Course Senior State
meet.
The highlight of the meet came
early in the meet, as on the first night as the women's 200
freestyle relay teams, both A and B, scored big points to open the
meet. The A relay of Lexi Lezcano, Katie Richardson, Elena Burr and
Morgan Palmanteer qualified for the Northwest Sectional
Championships posting a time of 1:57.65. The B relay of Lindsay
Hartman, Mallory Freeman, Annabelle Chinchen and Meghan Stetka also
nearly made the mark, missing the qualifying time by less than a
second.
Throughout the meet, the seniors
continued to post best times. Cori Basselen, Meghan Stetka and Drew
Barlow all made it back to finals in individual events in a tough
competitive field including many returing college athletes and
famous names like olympian Amanda Beard.
