Day two of the Age Group State meet brought back the sun and hot
temperatures which made for some fast swimming for the Desert
Thunder swimmers.
Beginning the day on a high note,
the 200 Medley Relay boys team of Finnegan Lynch, Vincent
Hemingway, Tanner Komlodi and Gabe Rangel went out to reset the 10
and under boys record in a crushing time of 2:53.78! Desert Thunder
went on to have it's strongest day of performances yet, returning
several of the team members to finals.
Abhishek Rajadas, in his toughest
day of competition, held strong to make three top eight finishes,
resetting two of his own team records in the 13-14 boys 200 back
(2:28.99) and the 50 butterfly(27.95) where he earned another
silver medal.
Ellinore Duncan and Andrew Rangel
both returned to score points in the their age group 50
breaststrokes, finishing 10th and 15th respectively. Sierra
Bigelow, after dropping eight seconds in prelims to qualify for
finals, dropped another six seconds in the evening to place 11th in
the 11-12 girls 200 backstroke. Also qualifying for the 200 back
after a strong morning performance was Chelsea Lytle who finished
in 16th place. Brenden Ambrosius, in addition to supporting two
13-14 boys relays, swam a fast time in the boys 50 butterfly to
return to finals and finished 16th.
to finish the night, both the girls
12 and under and boys 13-14 200 Medley Relays finished in the top
eight for valuable team points. Overall a strong day for Desert
Thunder.
Action returns to the pool Sunday
for the final day of competition.
